About

The Building Heaven, Battling Hell Blog is home of the writings, commentary, opinions and poetry of Adeeba Folami, a freelance writer/journalist who resides in Denver, Colorado.   Previously called “The Black House”, my blog has evolved as the evolution and elevation in my own life continues.  Reflecting over the deaths of several relatives caused me to take more seriously the concept of making heaven for myself while I live rather than waiting to receive some “pie in the sky” after I die.

It goes without saying that there’s plenty of “hell” to be found all over the earth and that we have to “battle” on a daily basis in everyday life. Life is short for any of us, considering that each day we live brings us closer to the time we will have to depart and “return to the dust.” So, why not make the most of the time we have, seeking to achieve every goal or dream that we have and suck as much joy, laughter and peace out of this life as we can get, i.e., build a heaven for ourselves, starting from the inside out. This is now my daily focus and prayer and will be reflected in the postings on my blog.

For more of my views about heaven, read the poem “You Ain’t Going to Heaven When You Die“.

As the BH evolution continues, I will continue striving toward the goal of becoming a published author of children’s (and other types of) books. Previous articles/writings  have appeared in a number of publications including:

  • African American Voice
  • Afro American Newspapers
  • Atlanta Daily World
  • Atlanta Voice
