A Woman’s Place (Poem)

October 13, 2011 No Comments

To be a woman

so strong, yet so weak

still learning to speak with strength and conviction

- to listen -

from the inside out

conquering the doubts and fears

that rise up within

time and time again

A little girl no more, in the physical

- the realm of the senses -

yet in the unseen world, there’s still a girl

overcoming the abuses hurled

onto her shoulders from the days of youth

ever in search of the truth

that will set her free

truth that makes others flee

from her reality

but her back is straight

it did not break from the heavy weight

she has carried from such a young age

never consumed by the rage

that almost took her life in those teenage days

when she learned to pray and received guidance

that led her down the path

of faith, strength and devotion to self

- elevation, esteem and respect -

cherishing every moment set aside to reflect

on how far she’s come

on the life long journey to become ONE

whole and complete

no longer afraid to seek or carve out

that sacred place

where it’s always safe

To be a Woman

- Adeeba -
