Night & Day

Ever consider the lessons the Creator made for us by creating “night” and “day”? One of them could be that no matter how dark a night gets, there will always be day light (relief) to follow it. ALWAYS! So, what reason is there to ever be in despair that a dark situation will be allowed to continue for longer than we can bear? If we hold on, we’ll be basking in the warmth of the sun in no time.

The Holy Qur’an puts it like this in Surah/Chapter 10 verse 6:

“Surely in the variation of the night and the day, and that which Allah has created in the heavens and the earth, there are signs for a people who keep their duty.” (Maulana Muhammad Ali translation)

The Pickthall version reads like this:

“Lo! in the difference of day and night and all that Allah hath created in the heavens and the earth are portents, verily, for folk who ward off (evil).” Not quite ebonics but close to how many of us talk when we talk about “folk” who do this or that.

The Khalifa version puts it this way:

“Surely, in the alternation of night and day, and what GOD created in the heavens and the earth, there are proofs for people who are righteous.” Love how the process is referred to as “the alternation” of night and day.

The Hilali Khan version beautifully says it this way:

“Verily, in the alternation of the night and the day and in all that Allah has created in the heavens and the earth are Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) for those people who keep their duty to Allah, and fear Him much.”

Here’s to learning how to better appreciate the beauty of the process referred to as “night and day” and the innumerable lessons we can learn from it.
