If not, is it time to separate?

Reports state that 50,000 turned out for the Jena 6 rally and protest today in Louisiana and those who organized the event are to be commended for doing so primarily through networking and spreading the word via the internet.
Unfortunately, the rally is not going to change too much, in the same way the rallying, marching and protesting of the 1960s didn’t change too much else there would be no need to still have to employ the same tactics in 2007 – and for basically the same reason: racism.
Even some of the young people interviewed said the effort was the beginning of the new civil rights movement. Well, I can relate to, and respect, standing up for a cause but it’s just a shame that we as Black people are so often knee-jerk reacting on the defensive rather than uniting in the same way to strategize and accomplish things offensively or proactively. As long as we’re knee-jerking, we’re still being controlled by whoever or whatever is causing that reaction.
Once the smoke clears from the Jena 6 situation, there will be another and another and another taking its place to keep us collectively reacting, unless, somebody – the younger generation – whoever, will come up with a new strategy. Has rallying truly proven to be a strategic activity for us collectively? If so, what is the evidence of that? If not, is it time to start strategizing and planning for what appears to be the only real solution to the “race” problem in America: separation?
“….We want our people in America whose parents or grandparents were descendants from slaves, to be allowed to establish a separate state or territory of their own – either on this continent or elsewhere. We believe that our former slave masters are obligated to provide such land and that the area must be fertile and minerally rich. We believe that our former slave masters are obligated to maintain and supply our needs in this separate territory for the next 20-25 years – until we are able to produce and supply our own needs.
Since we cannot get along with them in peace and equality, after giving them 400 years of our sweat and blood and receiving in return some of the worst treatment human beings have ever experienced, we believe our contributions to this land and the suffering forced upon us by white America, justifies our demand for complete separation in a state or territory of our own….”
